ROB KNOX FILM ACADAMY TO OPEN IN CHATHAM
Young people in Medway have an incredible opportunity to make high quality films under the guidance of seasoned professionals, as The Rob Knox Film Academy opens for applications.
The Rob Knox Film Foundation, set up in the memory of the actor who starred as Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, after he was murdered in 2008, has received funding from the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Scott to deliver the academy.
The foundation has turned to local filmmaker Michael Wearing from That’s Bellion Film Production in Gillingham to run it.
“Michael has substantial filmmaking experience, and has a long standing association with the Rob Knox Foundation, including running our annual film festival.
Michael and the foundation are keen to support young people who wish to secure careers in film and television.”
The Film Academy will work with young people to give them the necessary skIlls to make high quality films on issues of importance to the local area and to them.
The academy will be run at Nucleus Arts Centre in Chatham on every Tuesday between 4pm and 6pm, with longer days of filming during school holidays. It is free to attend, and the first session is due to start on 9th January 2018.
“This really is an opportunity too good to miss. There is a real need for teenagers to engage in positive activities. The Film Academy fills a gap in the opportunities available to them in Medway.”
