LIFF 2021 REVIEW: (K)NOX – THE ROB KNOX STORY (4 STARS)

“The film chronicles his upbringing and evolution to becoming a Hogwarts stalwart, as well as his character, with reflections from his family and HARRY POTTER actors like Jim Broadbent and Tom Felton, as well as archive footage showing Knox as his most characterful and positive. We see a very talented actor who was well on the way to being as established as the leads in the film like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint until the night of his tragic death…”

MOVIE REVIEW: “(K)NOX: THE ROB KNOX STORY”

The (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story documentary focusing on the life and untimely death of actor Rob Knox starts with this appropriate quote in relation to what was to be Knox’s big break as Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. He was only 18 years old when he was stabbed outside a bar in London in May 2008 while trying to protect his younger brother. He would not live to see the release of the film.

INTEGRITY MAGAZINE INTERVIEW WITH COLIN KNOX & AARON TRUSS (2021)

Paula Clark from Integrity Magazine sat down with Director Aaron Truss and Producer Colin Knox to discuss (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story. From winning BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE at the London Independent Film Festival to how Ray Winstone got involved with the film and the Rob Knox Foundation.

“(K)NOX” Q&A SHEDS LIGHT ON KNIFE CRIME & ROB’S GENERORISTY

The Q&A sheds light on the purpose and intent of the documentary. Truss described the film as a “lighthouse” for parents. He says that it is not designed for kids who carry knives; it is designed as a warning for parents. He and Knox aimed to show the real Rob and his story, because while it happened to Rob, “the story can apply to anyone.” Truss wanted to weave Rob’s personality into the film, including home videos and personal footage to showcase who Rob was during his life.

DIRECTOR AARON TRUSS & PRODUCER COLIN KNOX ON THE EMOTIONS OF “(K)NOX: THE ROB KNOX STORY”

“I was so moved by what [Truss] was trying to direct and portray,” Knox tells me. “Every time he said to me, ‘Well, how was it?’ I said, ‘Sorry, mate, you made me cry again.'” It’s not hard to see why: The film constantly weaves in authentic footage of Rob – the incredibly personal kind that usually stays hidden in the depths of video collections, or in this case, Knox’s attic – to celebrate Rob’s larger-than-life personality.
